Olga Sutkowska

 

OLGA SUTKOWSKA – Polish musicologist and musician living and studying in Berlin (PhD at the Berlin University of the Arts). Since several years she has been carrying out music archaeological research on the ancient double pipes (auloi/tibiae), investigating the archaeological finds of instruments at museums in Europe (Italy, Slovenia, Germany) and USA (Boston, New York). Results of her research are presented on numerous international conferences and published in several articles. For her work on the tibiae she received the Selch Award of the American Musical Instrument Society. In the frame of the EMAP Olga coordinates the auloi/tibiae team – a group of researchers, musicians and artisans working on the revival of ancient double pipes, and contributes to the blog The Workshop of Dionysus. She also provides scientific content for the Archaeomusica exhibition, including reconstruction of the Poetovio Tibia, which is one of the highlight instruments to be shown and performed.
